This bar bet is for the advanced players.  Here’s how this game is played.  While watching a sporting event call out your proposition for the next commercial spot.  Your opponent has the right to take either side of the proposition and if you get a bad beat the sporting competitor will return the favor with the next television commercial bar bet. 

Ok, here are the classics we have come up with over the years. 

• Beverage – There be any beverage shown during the spot - Even $
• Pavement – There will any pavement shown during a spot – Must lay 3 to 2 for
• Hot Chick – There will be a Hot Chick shown during the spot (both will agree on hotness) – Even $
• United Nations – There will be three distinct races (e.g. Caucasian, afro-American, Latino, etc) shown in a spot – receive 3 to 1
• Tree – There will be a tree shown during the spot - Even $
• SUV – There will SUV shown during the spot - Even $
• Eyewear (any glasses, goggles etc) – There will be any eyewear shown in the spot – Even $
• Animal – There will be any animal shown in a spot, no cartoons – receive 3 to 1
• Lid – There will be a hat or helmet shown in the next sport – Even $

Keep in mind that commercials played during sporting events will have higher likelihoods of certain props (e.g. an NFL game is likely to have beer spot showing a ‘beverage’ because of the target demographic)

All propositions are made for a single specified spot only.   For example, third spot ‘beverage’.  A commercial must be paid spot to qualify – no programming promos or charity spots. 

Animated images do not count. 

A variation can be played by playing the sweepstakes version of this game.  A napkin or anything handy is used to build a Yachtzee-like matrix and the highest cumulative score takes the pot.
